Born in San Giovanni Rotondo (FG) - Italy, on April 11, 1966, Leo grew up in a family passionate about music and began studying the clarinet at an early age. In 1988, he graduated from the “Gesualdo da Venosa” Conservatory of Music in Potenza under the guidance of Maestro Giuseppe Paolini. During the 1980s, he discovered jazz and the saxophone, quickly establishing himself as a talented musician and collaborating with local jazz quartets, as well as with the Potenza-based Big Band Bill Evans Jazz Orchestra, where he served as lead alto saxophonist and soloist.

From 1992 to 1996, he worked as a solo performer aboard the cruise ship Costa Romantica, appearing as a clarinetist and saxophonist, as well as an entertainer playing keyboards, piano, and singing an extensive international repertoire. In 1996, he moved to London, where he refined his technique and improvisation with pianist Stuart Brown and collaborated with jazz and soul artists, including Jenny Lockwood and the all-female group The Eulipians. He recorded the jazz album Blue Notes (2001) and performed at internationally renowned venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Jazz Café.

Based in Italy since 2004, he has built his career through composition, live performances, and participation in national and international jazz festivals, seminars, and masterclasses with artists such as Paolo Fresu and Bob Mintzer. Over the years, he has collaborated with musicians from the UK and USA, as well as with leading Italian artists and ensembles such as Pasquale Mega, Duke Saxophone Quartet, Blues Brass Band, Basilicata Jazz Orchestra and Toni De Giorgi Quartet. He has also performed as tenor saxophonist with the internationally acclaimed Pink Floyd tribute band Pink Sonik.

Since 2017, he has worked as a touring and session musician across Italy, performing in a wide range of live contexts and collaborating with various artists and ensembles, from original projects to tribute bands and jazz formations, particularly in the Veneto region. These include collaborations with Napulé Tribute Band and Lazzari in Blues, both dedicated to the music of Pino Daniele, the founding of the Leo Pianoforte Elektric Band, the Rhythm Stuff Power Quartet, and appearances as special guest saxophonist in a live concert with singer-songwriter Alvise Battolini. He has also performed as clarinetist in Piazza San Marco, Venice, at Caffè Lavena, and is the mind behind the Blue Corner Duo, an international vocal project.
